After years of waiting, the much-anticipated video game adaptation of the hit horror film franchise A Quiet Place has finally made some noise. Previously announced back in 2021 with little more than a whisper of its existence, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead has now emerged from the shadows with a gripping announcement trailer.
Developed by Stormind Games, the survival horror specialists behind the Remothered series and Batora: Lost Haven, The Road Ahead looks to capture the nerve-wracking tension of the films. Players will be thrust into the role of a young survivor entrenched in a post-apocalyptic landscape plagued by terrifying alien creatures with an acute sense of hearing.
As seen in the trailer, the game will be a deadly game of cat-and-mouse, requiring players to meticulously observe their surroundings and tread as lightly as possible. Everyday objects like crunchy floors or creaky doors could spell doom if they catch the aliens’ attention. Thankfully, you’ll have tools like a makeshift decibel meter to help gauge just how much noise you’re making.
While originally slated for a 2022 release, the game went radio silent for a few years, concerning fans. Now under new developer Stormind, The Road Ahead seems to be firmly back on track for a multi-platform launch in 2024 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Rather than simply rehashing storylines from the movies, the game will present an original tale set in the A Quiet Place universe. Few plot details are known so far, but the trailer hints that intense family drama will intersect with the constant dread of the alien threat.
With the prequel film A Quiet Place: Day One just hitting theaters, followed by the conclusion of the main trilogy coming down the pipeline, the timing seems perfect for fans to finally get their hands on an immersive video game interpretation of the taut, atmospheric world first brought to life by the fantastic 2018 film.
Like the characters of A Quiet Place being hunted at every turn, gamers will soon know the anxiety of having to survive in agonizing silence when A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead at long last goes loud later this year. We will keep you updated once the release date is announced.
