No Midseason Break for Invincible Season 3, Which Premieres Early Next Year

Invincible will premiere in February 2025 with no mid-season break.

Our favorite Prime Video animated superhero series is returning next year with a bang! Yes, we’re talking about Invincible Season 3, one of the most anticipated shows of 2025.

Starting with some good news, the wait between seasons has been drastically reduced. While fans endured a vexing two-and-a-half-year gap between seasons 1 and 2, the upcoming third season is set to premiere just eleven months after its predecessor.

One of the most welcome announcements is the elimination of the midseason hiatus (thanks to a leaked trailer on X that has since been pulled down). Season 2’s controversial split into two four-episode chunks, aired five months apart, left many viewers frustrated.

Fortunately, the producers of the show have heard these complaints loud and clear. Invincible Season 3 will air its entire eight-episode run uninterrupted, with new episodes dropping weekly on Prime Video from February 6 to March 13.

As for our hero, Mark Grayson, he is in for some no-nonsense training as he prepares to face the looming Viltrumite threat. We can look forward to seeing Mark wear his iconic blue-and-black suit from the comics, a costume change that will mark a milestone in his growth and increasing maturity as a hero.

Invincible is based on the Image Comics comic book series of the same name created by Robert Kirkman.

The upcoming season is set to be the most action-packed yet, with Mark still reeling from the events of Season 2. From his complicated relationship with his Viltrumite father to the accidental death of Angstrom Levy, Mark has a lot to process. Add to that the revelation of a half brother and a brutal encounter with the Viltrumite warrior Anissa, and it’s clear our boy has his work cut out for him.

Invincible has never shied away from poking fun at itself, and thankfully that’s not going to change. The first look at Season 3 features a meta conversation between Mark and Cecil, addressing the production delays and fan reactions directly. It’s this self-aware humor that has endeared the show to its audience and sets it apart in the crowded (and tired) superhero genre.

The production team’s ability to deliver this season so quickly after the second is impressive, especially considering the grueling animation work required. It speaks to a streamlined process and perhaps increased resources being allocated to the show, which is always a good sign for its future.

Invincible Season 3 will premiere on Prime Video on February 6, 2025.

Powered by bad puns and dad jokes, Caleb believes he's got a fantasy novel in him that can turn into a best-seller and get adapted by HBO. Until he starts writing it, he'll have to settle for LOTR reruns and one-shot D&D adventures.
