Fans of the Pinocchio-inspired soulslike game Lies of P have something to look forward to in early 2025. Developer Round 8 Studio and publisher Neowiz have revealed plans for both a Lies of P DLC and an entirely new game.
The Lies of P DLC, first teased last November, is confirmed to launch in the first quarter of 2025 (thanks, Eurogamer). While details remain hard to come by, concept art has teased fans with glimpses of protagonist P exploring a mysterious shipwreck and an industrial facility featuring a massive central pillar. Game director Jiwan Choi has cryptically promised that what’s been shown is “merely the tip of an iceberg.”
The game itself was no small success. Released in September last year for Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC, Lies of P quickly made waves in the soulslike genre. Within its first month, the game sold over one million copies and has since grown to reach seven million players across various platforms. Critics were equally impressed, with Metacritic scores ranging from 80 to 84 across different platforms.
Besides the upcoming DLC, Round 8 Studio is pivoting genres for its next project – a sci-fi survival horror game. Using Unreal Engine 5, the game is being developed for PC and consoles, drawing inspiration from modern horror classics like the Dead Space remake.
Alongside the new IP and DLC, a full sequel to Lies of P is also in development. The director has expressed his determination to build upon the original’s strengths while addressing areas for improvement. With the game’s unique reimagining of the Pinocchio story proving so popular, fans are no doubt eager to see what fairytale-inspired narrative might come next.
For those who are yet to experience the fantastic action RPG, Lies of P is a dark, mechanical twist on the classic tale. Players control P, a unique puppet with the ability to lie, exploring the fallen city of Krat and uncovering the mysteries behind the puppet population’s descent into madness.
