In a move that’s sure to electrify rock fans worldwide, Linkin Park is back with a bang! The Grammy-winning band is emerging from a seven-year hiatus with fresh energy, new members, and an exciting album on the horizon.
The band’s comeback comes with some changes to their lineup. Emily Armstrong, formerly of Dead Sara, will be stepping up to the mic as a co-vocalist alongside Linkin Park veteran Mike Shinoda. Meanwhile, Colin Brittain, a seasoned producer who’s worked with Papa Roach, will be taking over drumming duties, replacing Rob Bourdon, who has left the band.
But not to worry, long-time fans – the heart of Linkin Park remains intact. Brad Delson, Joe Hahn, and Phoenix are all returning. Hopefully, the band’s signature sound will still be recognizable, albeit with a fresh twist.
More good news is that Linkin Park’s eighth studio album, aptly titled From Zero, is set to drop on November 15. The name is a clever nod to the band’s humble beginnings when they were known as Xero. As Shinoda explained, “This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking.”
The first taste of this new era is already here with “The Emptiness Machine,” a new single from the upcoming album. If this track is any indication, fans are going to enjoy this new album, which honors the band’s past while boldly stepping into the future.
While the return of Linkin Park is cause for celebration, they’ve made it very clear that this new era isn’t about replacing the irreplaceable Chester Bennington, who tragically passed away in 2017. Instead, it’s about honoring the band’s legacy while charting out a new course forward.
In Bennington’s own words, “We’d like to think that our music will always be bigger than any one of our individual personalities.”
