When The Terminal List landed on Prime Video in 2022, it did not find the enthusiasm the streaming service had hoped. Thankfully for us who loved the series, Amazon has decided to double down on that endeavor with The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.
The first trailer of the upcoming prequel series suggests they’re not holding back, as the few scenes we’ve seen appear to be more intense than its predecessor.
Dark Wolf serves as an origin story for Ben Edwards (who is played by Taylor Kitsch), tracking his evolution from Navy SEAL to CIA black ops operative. The series explores what the streamer calls “the darker side of warfare and the human cost that comes with it.”
This sounds like a departure from typical military action that focuses on psychological consequences rather than just explosive set pieces.
Given how audiences have been hungry for authentic military storytelling that doesn’t shy away from difficult questions about service and sacrifice, Dark Wolf might just have arrived at the perfect time.
Although Kitsch will be the central point of the story, Chris Pratt will reprise his role as James Reece, sharing top billing in a show that will help us understand both characters better. Dark Wolf will hopefully reveal new layers to Reece’s backstory ahead of The Terminal List Season 2, which is expected to begin filming soon.
The Terminal List: Dark Wolf launches with a three-episode drop on August 27, followed by weekly releases every Wednesday through September 24.
