Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 3 Officially Announced

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2

Focus Entertainment, Saber Interactive, and Games Workshop have officially announced that development on Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 3 has begun, riding the momentum of Space Marine 2‘s tremendous success last year.

Larger battles, deeper lore, and years of thrilling Warhammer 40K action are coming again soon. The announcement came last week, just six months after Space Marine 2‘s release. While details remain scarce at this early stage, developers have shared their vision for the third installment in the popular franchise.

What We Know So Far

The third game promises to deliver “an immersive campaign” and “multiplayer modes” while introducing innovations that the developers claim will “redefine the standards of third-person action games.”

Focus Entertainment’s Publishing Deputy CEO John Bert stated that the sequel will feature “large-scale battles that are even more spectacular” than its predecessor.

Matthew Karch, CEO of Saber Interactive, described their ambition for Space Marine 3 as “a true love letter to the Warhammer 40,000 universe,” suggesting they’ll be drawing deeply from the rich lore of the franchise.

The only visual hint provided so far is a teaser image featuring series protagonist Demetrian Titus, with the tagline “Your duty is not done.”

Development Timeline

While no release window has been specified, fans shouldn’t expect the 14-year gap that occurred between the original Space Marine and its sequel.

That said, developers have cautioned that work on the new title “will take a while,” with industry observers speculating a potential 3-5 year development cycle that could place release somewhere between 2028 and 2030.

More importantly for current players, Focus Entertainment has emphasized that Space Marine 2 will continue to receive substantial support despite the announcement of its sequel. The developers have promised “years of support” with “a jaw-dropping lineup of new missions, additional upgrades, and more enemies.”

The much-awaited Horde mode for Space Marine 2 is still in development as well, ensuring players have plenty of content to enjoy while waiting for the third installment.

Thankfully, the development team remains unchanged from Space Marine 2, with Focus Entertainment leading alongside Saber Interactive and Games Workshop. This consistency should reassure fans that the franchise’s direction and quality will remain steady moving forward.

According to Karch, Space Marine 2 represented “the culmination of everything we have learned about game development in our 25 years in the business,” suggesting that Space Marine 3 will build upon this foundation while aiming even higher.

We’ll make sure to share more details about Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 3 as development progresses. For now, you can get your Warhammer fix on Prime Video by watching the gaming anthology series Secret Level.
